A festive introduction to the art of kiln enamelling whilst making your own Christmas decorations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our plan for the day: <\/strong>Starts with an explanation of what vitreous enamel is and how to use a kiln to achieve a beautiful enamelled finish. You will be expertly guided through the process step by step as you prepare your copper shapes, sift your enamels and fire your pieces safely and confidently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be a large choice of enamel colours to choose from and plenty of decorative ideas, enamel media and techniques to play with as you develop your enamelling skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will break for lunch at around 1.00pm. There are plenty of cafe’s and coffee shops in Stoke Newington for you to sit and have your lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon we will concentrate on decorating our pieces and firing them to a professional finish ready for you to take home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is the course for? <\/strong>Adults over the age of 16 years only. We are unable to teach children to use the kilns due to the 800 degrees Celsius temperatures involved in firing enamels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do need any previous experience?<\/strong> No, you can attend as a complete beginner. You will be taught step by step during the day and learn best practice in setting out a studio space and learn important health and safety management in the use of powdered enamels too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What will I make? <\/strong>You can expect to make three finished pieces. The sizes and shapes vary and are on a Christmas theme (trees, angels, baubles, polar bears, snowflakes, stars etc). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may choose which 3 you’d like to make from the range available whilst also learning a brand new skill that can also be applied to jewellery and small enamelled pictures. If you are really keen and catch “the enamelling bug” this course leads onto our intermediate “Enamelling on Copper Bowls Day Course” for those with some previous experience of enamelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A great way to make your own gifts with a very personal message for your loved ones at Christmas and have fun learning new skills at the same time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
