ADVANCED ENAMELLING (FOR EXPERIENCED ENAMELLERS)

Gaining confidence with colour, pattern and design. Taught by Eleanor Watson.

Saturday 26th September 2026 – 10am – 4.30pm

Advanced Enamelling – gaining confidence in colour and design in enamelling to “personalise” your work and weave in your own story. A course for experienced enamellers wishing to develop their own personal style, individual designs and take their use and understanding of colour, pattern and design to a higher level.

Please note: this course is designed for advanced enamellers with significant previous experience.

It is not suitable for beginners who have never enamelled before as we will not be covering the basics. You will need to have attended my introductory courses ( i.e: Enamelling for Beginners and Intermediate Enamelling on Copper Bowls) before enrolling.  Please see other dates listed to attend those courses first if you have never enamelled with me before. Thank you.

” Seeding new ideas”

Learning enamel techniques from other enamellers is only a good starting point, applying them to create your own individual style (and not just copying their pieces) demands a deeper exploratory approach. In this workshop we will be working from an item of personal inspiration via a series of creative and observational exercises each exploring our connection to our object and the stories we associate with it.

We will translate our discoveries into our artwork making a series of decorative enamelled samples and progress to enamel a 7.5cm x 7.5cm copper picture panel mounted on a 15cm x 15cm white-painted MDF square ready to hang on the wall. Your initial samples may also become a second collaged picture to take home.

This side of craft / art isn’t often taught and perhaps that’s because it is an approach that has to be caught and adopted not at the moment we sift enamel onto copper, but with some homework and preparation before we even think of lifting a sieve!

If you’re up for a thinking outside the box creative challenge, this course is for you…..!
